Judge Melissa McIntosh, the president of the Association of Administrative Law Judges (AALJ), issued the following statement upon the death of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka. AALJ is a local of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers, AFL- CIO, and represents approximately 1,100 judges across 160 offices who preside in Social Security disability hearings.
“We’re all saddened by the sudden passing of Richard Trumka. He was a passionate, committed advocate for the rights of working people, including members of the Association of Administrative Law Judges. As we approach Labor Day, every American should be grateful for his leadership and vision. The members of AALJ send our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues at this time.”
