AALJ President Ramrup and AALJ Secretary Schiro traveled to Washington DC the week of March 20 to meet with Capitol Hill staffers and executives at the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to discuss issues of import to the ALJ corps, including with respect to the exclusion of National Hearing Center (NHC) judges from our bargaining unit, ALJ hiring, and the quota. While in Washington, we were privileged to attend a reception in honor of Labor Secretary Marty Walsh. As IFPTE President Matt Biggs noted, “Secretary Walsh is a union Brother through and through and took that union card with him to the Department of Labor.” You can read more about our meetings and the reception for Secretary Walsh here: Association of Administrative Law Judges Advocate on Capitol Hill with IFPTE Staff — IFPTE and here: IFPTE Attends AFL-CIO Reception in Honor of Outgoing Labor Secretary Marty Walsh — IFPTE
